Should You Start Blogging in 2025? The Harsh Reality No One Tells You
There is one of my sites that generated ₹22 lakh and is now dead. There is another website that gave me ₹20 lakh, and it’s dead now, too. And wait, this website lasted for 1 year and gave away ₹16 lakh, but it’s dead now too.

If you are thinking about starting blogging at this time, do not miss this video at all because if your years of hard work go to waste, you’ll feel terrible. In the last year, blogging as an industry has changed a lot and ended many people’s careers, especially those who have been in it for years. If you don’t believe me, look at some posts. People who blogged for almost 10 years had their entire sites die and their revenue sources gone.
The Old Blogging Methods Are Dead
I’m not saying blogging as a career is dead, but many blogging methods no longer work. In the past, I also had many websites that I monetized, but one thing was common—they aimed to earn money through AdSense. I used to collect lots of keywords, bulk-write content, and post it, and experts didn’t write the content. This process was repeatable and worked on almost all websites.
But this method, which you might have learned mostly on YouTube—ordering lots of content, creating multiple websites, and monetizing them—no longer works at all. This is something no one wants to tell you: this process is over; you should never do it anymore.
So, Should You Start Blogging in 2025?
You will understand the answer when you hear all this. Earlier, when we searched on Google, the first result was a featured snippet that displayed the best answer. Then the websites ranked on the first page.
The Rise of AI Overviews
But now, when you search on Google, the first thing you see is an AI overview, Google’s new feature that aggregates information from various sources and answers the user directly. After that, trusted websites with brand value, like The New York Times, The Times of India, and Aaj Tak, appear because people trust them.
If a trusted site does not have the answer to a query, Reddit is usually a good place to look. Google recently partnered with Reddit, investing $60 million to train its AI on Reddit’s user-generated content. So, many queries now rank Reddit high due to these reasons:
The partnership may give Reddit more opportunities to rank.
Many sites now have AI-generated content, making it harder for Google to decide rankings, so they rank forums like Reddit and Quora to show user-generated content.
Earlier, forums were not considered good sources of answers by Google, but that has changed. From these points, you understand that ranking in 2025 is very challenging. No matter how many paid courses you buy, ranking well will be tough—I’m 100% sure.
Google’s Crackdown on Expired Domains
Many bloggers used expired domains from trusted websites to rank easily, but Google now bans the abuse of expired domains. Even if you create a new website and rank, there is no guarantee your site will stay ranked. Google decides rankings based on better content ahead.
Can Blogging Be a Full-Time Career in 2025?
So, can blogging be a full-time career in 2025 or later? The answer is a big no, as many dynamic factors are involved that you might not understand. But if you want to start blogging, do it as a side gig or hobby, so you don’t invest too much time and value.
The Right Way to Start Blogging Today
If you want to start blogging today, you don’t need to buy any course. I will give you a clear roadmap.
Choose Your Niche Carefully
First, choose a category carefully. Earlier, we decided on broad categories like news or entertainment and earned well, but now starting a blog in broad categories is foolish.
Choose niche categories based on research. For example, if your content is easily satisfied by AI overview answers, no one will visit your site. Ensure your niche is deep-researched and not satisfiable by AI. Your goal is to choose such niche categories that AI cannot satisfy, so users come to your site directly.
Invest in Quality Hosting
Also, website optimization matters a lot: loading speed, daily backups, and avoiding crashes are critical. Good hosting is essential. I prefer Hostinger—it’s affordable, offers free SSL certificates, custom emails, and a free domain with a yearly hosting plan. Their minimum plan lets you host 100+ websites, and they provide automated backups and 24/7 customer support. Currently, Hostinger has an 80% off Black Friday sale, and with the Damini coupon code, you get additional discounts; the link is in my description.
Focus on User-Generated, Value-Driven Content
As for article writing, everyone can get good AI-generated content nowadays, but don’t do that. Google’s updates focus on user-generated, value-driven content. If your content lacks value, no ranking makes sense. Write as you would normally do, not to game Google. Google can detect AI-generated content trying to manipulate rankings.
The Power of Branding Over Content
The biggest problem is legitimacy. My old sites are mostly dead now with no traffic, but my company’s platform site is growing steadily because it’s legitimate and recognized. Branding is more important than just content. Recognized brands don’t see much traffic impact from Google updates because they are multi-platform—YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram, Pinterest—available everywhere to stay visible.
For example, I create digital marketing content on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook. When I post content on my website, Google knows I’m active across the web, which increases my site’s legitimacy.
Don’t Depend Only on Google Traffic
So, don’t stick to one platform. Post content across multiple platforms to drive external traffic. Depending only on Google for traffic is a big mistake.
Focus on branding over just content. Long-term blogging success requires branding. Blogging for three to four months to earn a lot is impossible now.
Monetization Beyond AdSense
If your website gets some traffic, how will you monetize it? Not just AdSense. AdSense is one way, but you must monetize traffic through newsletters, affiliate marketing by pitching products or software, or sponsorships.
If blogging fails, don’t lose hope. Blogging builds many skills, including SEO, website development, and software use. Monetize your skills through SEO or other freelance services. Your skills provide long-term monetization, even if the website doesn’t succeed.
Final Thoughts: Should You Start?
My motivation isn’t to demotivate, but to share the harsh reality of blogging now. Decide whether to enter wisely.
One tip: go in-depth in blogging. Learn SEO properly, email marketing, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and create video content for your blog. This way, you become an expert in overall digital marketing and monetize your skills better.
So, should you start blogging? Definitely yes, but never treat it as a full-time career. Ask any blogging questions in the comments, and I’ll answer through replies.
